National Festival of Music for Youth news
Symphonic Winds will be performing at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, at 5.15pm on Thursday 6th July. Big Band will also be performing in the Festival Fringe on the same day, in the foyer of Symphony Hall at 2.00pm. A letter with departure and arrival times has been sent out to participants.
Music Development opportunities
As mentioned in previous news we had former pupils coming into school to talk about Music Development Opportunities post-NSB:
On Monday 15th May we had Jeremy Ansell, Bandmaster for the Band of the Adjutant General's Corps, giving a talk about the merits of developing music skills in the Armed Forces.
On Monday 22nd May we had Brian Weir from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama talking to years 10 - 12 about the pros and cons of going to Music College versus University to develop music skills and running a conducting workshop.
Both talks went extremely well and gave pupils information about the many ways you can continue to study music post-18.
The latest Theatre Events leaflet is on the school website under the Cripps Hall Theatre link with full details of events from now until July.
A reminder - NSB Music Dept now has its own Twitter account where you can follow up to date news and achievements. The address is @NSBMusicDep
National Concert Band Festival
Although November is a way off we thought you might like to know that the NCBF regional event will be on Sunday 26th November. We envisage that Symphonic Winds and Big Band III will be taking part.
