Headmaster's Bulletin 17th January 2020
I am very pleased to report that a grand total of eight NSB students have been given a formal offer of a place at Oxford or Cambridge University this year which is far in excess of the national average. The school is delighted for the students that their hard work and talent has been rewarded by a place at one of England’s two most prestigious universities and I would also like to thank the staff who worked tirelessly in support of their applications and interview preparation.

We enjoyed a cracking game of school boy rugby on Wednesday evening when NSB U15s took on Ipswich School in the Regional Final of the National U15 Vase competition. Ipswich roared into a 14-0 early lead with some excellent rugby before NSB hauled themselves back into the contest with a brace of tries and penalties to take a deserved 18-14 lead at half time.
The lead then twice switched again and with two minutes to go NSB were desperately protecting their goal line knowing that an Ipswich try against would seal the end of their Cup run. The NSB defence was magnificent and following a brilliant turnover by Lewis Glennon and a phenomenal clearing kick from his dead ball line and against the wind, by Will Nickels we hung on for victory.
The Quarter Final draw takes place this afternoon and hopefully we will come out of the hat first for a home tie in the last eight. With the U18s in the Semi-Finals of the Cup the NSB double header at Twickenham is still on! The football teams are similarly outstanding with 8 teams still in the latter rounds of their National Cups following some great results this week for the U14 B team away in Manchester and the U18 A team at home against South Bromsgrove.
Finally, I’m pleased to announce that tickets for our eagerly anticipated School Musical, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ this year are now on sale from the Box Office. It will run over three nights – Wednesday 4th – Thursday 5th & Friday 6th March and it promises to be an evening of high quality entertainment for all the family.
