Headteacher's Bulletin 20th October 2023
The school has been resplendent in red today in support of the national 'Show Racism The Red Card Day'. This marks the end of an action packed Personal Development Week which has provided a multitude of opportunities for the students, not least Y8 and 12 whom we welcome back from successful residentials later today. Other activities amongst many, have included Work Experience, UCAS and subject interventions, Careers Fairs, PSHE themed plays and external agency talks, House Sports, Rock Climbing and Expressive Arts. Many thanks to Mrs Greenaway, Mrs O'Neill, Miss Rickaby, Miss Kennedy and all other staff and external agencies who have helped to put together such a productive week of student engagement.
The Department for Education published the provisional GCSE 2023 Performance Tables on Thursday, and we were delighted to see that NSB has been awarded the highest category of 'Well Above Average' for the key National Performance Indicator of 'Progress' for the fourth public exam year in a row. NSB was also ranked as the top performing school in West Northants for the 3 other key National GCSE Performance Indicators - average GCSE grade per entry (5.9) / % of student cohort with a strong pass - Grade 5 or above - in English & Maths (77%) and average EBacc score (5.42). Well done to last year's Y11 and early indicators for the current Y11 are incredibly promising!
The NSB extracurricular programme has been quieter this week with so many year groups and staff out on residentials or Work Experience alongside the impact of the inclement weather, however the respective Y7 and 11 football A teams still managed to record excellent victories in the County and National Cups respectively.
Parents of students in Y11 and 13 are reminded that Term 1 Reports are issued after the end of school today via AIM. Students in other year groups will receive their first reports at the end of Term 2.
Finally, I hope that all students have an enjoyable break and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, October 30th .
