Northampton School for Boys

Headteacher's Bulletin - Friday, July 5th 2024

This week we were given the green light to release the outcomes of our recent NTTP Ofsted inspection of our Teacher Training provision and I'm delighted to report that we have been graded as 'Outstanding' in all categories - the quality of education and training  / leadership and management and overall effectiveness. The glowing report is a reflection of the exceptional partnerships that we enjoy with local schools and providers and we hope to continue to supply a consistent stream of high quality teachers into the Northampton area for many years to come!

If you, or someone you know, are interested in training to teach with our “Outstanding” partnership, we would welcome your application. For more information, email nttp@nsb.northants.sch.uk, or click below for further details:

We are still welcoming applications for applicants starting training in September 2024.

We enjoyed a glorious NSB Summer Concert of Music on Thursday with students from across all Key Stages filling the Cripps with delightful melodic pieces and musical theatre. We have a particularly talented group of Year 13 musicians this year who we are very sorry to say goodbye to and they performed in their last school concert with great aplomb! It's not the end of the NSB musical road for them however, quite yet, as the evening served as a fabulous warm up for today's National Music for Youth Finals event in Birmingham,  where the NSB Symphony Orchestra are playing to a packed Symphony Hall in Birmingham (twice) - a nearly 4,000 strong audience over the two concerts!  An incredible experience for the students and testament to the exceptional music provision and standards in the school. Many of the Year 13s will also be performing in our Addams Family Musical next week!

As well the celebration of NSB Music we are also very much looking forward to a celebration of NSB sport this evening when we hold our annual NSB Sports Awards to recognise a magnificent year of sporting achievements which has seen the school reach ten national finals and secure the No1 UK ranking for State Schools for competitive Sport. Well done to all students receiving an award and huge thanks to guest of honour Andre Arissol, who has been inspirational to many NSB students in his work for NSB Basketball and for the NSB Inclusion Team this year.

On the sporting front many congratulations to Theodore Grasta-Smith (Y9), Ciaran Long (Y10),  and Ethan Buckley (Y9) who represented the East Midlands at Water Polo last weekend in a series of games against London, Scotland and the North East - with Theo and Ethan playing a year up which is a huge achievement in itself. The boys all played very well and came away with a good win over Scotland as well as the invaluable experience gleaned from playing at this level of competition.

It has also been a great week for NSB cricket with the U13s and U15s winning the area final games of the Fred Trueman Trophy for State Schools, the U12s and U13s enjoying a new 'hundred' format fixture against Maidwell Hall - with an evening BBQ thrown in and the U14s having a thoroughly enjoyable game against touring South Africa School - Boland Landbou.

Finally, many congratulations to the Year 10 students who recently completed their assessed expedition for the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Awards. 23 Year 10 boys traversed a daily dose of 18 km of challenging Peak District terrain for three days straight which is a brilliant achievement and they all passed with flying colours. A huge well done to:

Shayaan Ali, Harry Armstrong, Jake Brennan, Jake Clark, Alex Dixon, Cameron Edwards, Harry Grimshaw, Bodie Hamilton, Ed Hardwick, Freddie Harris, Arnie Helyar, Ben Jones, Savya Kotak, Michal Kusnierek, Giovanni Panariello, Aaryan Patel, Daniel Piggott, Stephen Pitt, Kushal Santhirasekaran,  Krishnaa Santhirasekaran,  Oliver Vasconcellos-Blanch, Dilan Weeraseka
