Years 7, 8, 9 - Flu vaccination - 26th January 2023
This is a message from the School Aged Immunisation Service (SIAS):
Your child’s annual flu vaccination session is now available to book. This vaccination is recommended to help protect your child against flu. Flu can be an unpleasant illness and can cause serious complications. Vaccinating your child will also help protect more vulnerable family and friends by preventing the spread of flu. The nasal flu spray called LAIV is the primary choice of vaccine offered to most children under the age of 18 as it is generally more effective in this age group than the inactivated injected vaccine.
Your child’s vaccination session is due to take place in school on Thursday 26th January 2023.
Please follow the link below to complete the consent form for your child.
The link will close 72 hours before the session at 8.30am on 23rd January.
Please submit your child’s form before this deadline. Once you have successfully submitted, an acknowledgement page will be displayed - you will only receive an email confirmation with a unique reference code if you have added your email address prior to submitting the form.
Once the deadline closes you will only be able to access the vaccination from a community catch up clinic.
If you do not want your child to receive the flu vaccination you are not required to submit the consent form, your child will not be offered the vaccination without prior consent, and the SIAS do not offer self-consent as an option with this vaccine.

This session is being administered by the SIAS nurses. Any further questions regarding this session please contact the School Aged Immunisation Service Admin Hub on 0800 170 7055 Option 5. Please do not contact the school.
For information for parents/carers with a child in an older year group: The SIAS have not yet been given authorisation from the UKHSA to offer this vaccination to children in school years 10 to 13 - when this does come it will likely be available in a community clinic only and not delivered in a school setting.
