Careers Appointments
Year 11 Careers Appointments Launch Presentation September 2024
Careers is a lifelong journey. Your career has already started and is being influenced by many things including the things you are good at, enjoy, the options you choose at 14, 16 or 18, your values, your hobbies and extracurricular, the people and communities you interact with, your experiences of the world of work and different ways to get there, your grades and qualifications.
Like any journey, there are different ways to get to a destination. Your destinations may change as your ideas change, opportunities become available or unavailable to you, or you achieve a desired destination, so you set yourself a new destination. You are the navigator of your journey.
Careers can be overwhelming, and you and your friends will all be at different stages of your career thinking. That’s where your careers appointment can help inform, develop or explore your thinking and ideas for your future – whether that is your next step or a longer-term sense of direction.
It’s your appointment, and it’s important to prepare so that it is helpful to you and you know what you would like to get from it. You may find it useful to watch the YouTube video above or read the attachments below. The What is a Careers Appointment helps to explain what happens in a Careers Appointment and the Preparing for the Appointment gives you some suggestions of how to get the most out of your appointment (and includes some YouTube videos).
We look forward to meeting you, exploring your career thinking and your journey ahead and helping you identify the actions and decisions you need to take to make it happen.
