Headteacher's Bulletin - Friday, October 11th 2024
The 2024/25 Student Leadership Team are an outstanding group who are passionate advocates for NSB. The Team receive regular feedback through the School's House Structure which they report termly to the Senior Leadership Team and then cascade relevant actions back to the wider school. The students are also exceptional role models who proudly represent NSB at public events throughout the course of the academic year. Pictured below are this year's team!
We are incredibly excited to be welcoming the BBC Bitesize Careers Roadshow to NSB next Wednesday. Students in Y8-11 will each enjoy a 1 hour workshop in the Theatre led by an experienced BBC presenter, who will speak with three local professionals in a ‘panel-style’ setup. They will cover a variety of topics, such as relevant qualifications, personal anecdotes and career path advice on work experience and key soft skills for the workplace. There is also an opportunity for students to ask questions during the interactive part of the event. The event is aiming to reach 125,000 students from schools across the UK and NSB is very proud to be a part of it! Miss Rickaby will share photos and an update of the day in next week's Bulletin.
Four exceptional NSB musicians - Thomas Wood, Charlie Taylor, Elizabeth Groves and Jessica Philipsz performed brilliantly in the Nigel Cobb and Shirley Grant Fellowship Awards Fellowship Finals at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church on Tuesday with Charlie and Elizabeth carrying off the top two prestigious awards.

Finally, major roadworks will be hitting the junction of Billing Rd / Rushmere Rd / Billing Rd East and Park Avenue South from 10am on Monday 21st October until 13th December. The works will cause temporary disruption, however in the long term they will make the junction safer for pedestrians and cyclists, inclusive of the many NSB students who traverse this route to school. Further details will be sent via AIM to all parents / carers next week so that families can plan any amended route to and from school accordingly.
