NSB Tennis Open Final 2019
The NSB Tennis Open final took place today on Tuesday 23rd July 2019. The match saw two students that had battled their way through from 64 individuals from across the school ranging from Years 7 to staff.
Many believed this could be an all staff affair but both students were successful in knocking out the strongest staff players in the semi-finals the day before. Jamie Dunk in Year 8 managed to book his place in the final by beating Mr Taplin 4-2 in the short set format that the later stages of the competition holds. Michael Walsh from Year 10 dismissed Mr Websdale 5-3 in order to reach the final from his semi.
The stage was then set, the two best players that have battled through the six stages of the tournament will now face off head to head.
We knew this was going to be a tough match in the heat, but the resilience, prowess and pure brilliance displayed by both made it a final to remember.
The scores from the games were 4-4 in the short set format and then it went to a tie-break. Like the games just past it went to the wire with Michael just clinching it with his powerful forehand 7-6.
A massive congratulations to Michael Walsh in Year 10 on his victory and a huge well done to Jamie Dunk in Year 8 for showing the NSB ethos and spirit.
