Year 8: E-consenting for your child’s Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination
Dear Parent/Guardian
Year 8: E-consenting for your child’s Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination
We are writing to advise you that the School Aged Immunisation Service (SAIS) will soon be visiting your child’s school to deliver the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination. To get the best protection, your child will need two injections with the first being given in the summer term of 2022 and the second in the spring/summer of 2023, please see communication from school regarding exact dates. The HPV vaccine is offered to all students, male and female and offers protection against infection from the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) which can lead to a range of cancers in later life. It is being offered free to your child in school as this vaccine is not routinely available from your GP practice.
For more information on this vaccine visit the NHS website via this link: Click Here
Please follow the link below to complete the consent form for your child:
The link will close 7 days before the planned vaccination session date.
Even if you do not wish your child to receive this vaccination, please continue to follow the link above declining your consent and please be assured that once we receive your refusal, we will not vaccinate your child nor offer them the opportunity to self-consent. However, be aware that if we have not received any response before the vaccination session, we may offer your child the opportunity to self-consent on the day. This is in line with the ‘Gillick’ Competency Framework: Click Here
If your child is absent on the day of planned vaccinations, you will be offered the opportunity to bring them to a community-based vaccination clinic.
