Ski Trip to Artesina 2024
After all the planning and organisational headaches leading up to the trip, it was lovely to see 135 excited students and staff set off in the early hours of 18th February 2024 travelling to the Maritime Alps in Northwest Italy.
To say the conditions were challenging is an understatement. It was icy first thing in the morning and slushy later in the day meaning that the students had to adapt quickly to progress. Skiing is very dependent on the conditions, and it is a testament to the dogged determination of our group that they just got their heads down and got on with it.
Their progress was astounding with groups very quickly progressing off the nursery slope to travelling all over the mountain. There were of course some bumps and bruises along the way.
Evening entertainment was kicked off with bingo and some unconventional calling from yours truly and our guest caller Mr Crooke. Cash prizes were won, and the atmosphere was intense. The quiz night and awards evening were well received, and the students responded really well to briefings and information. They all became more organised and independent as the week progressed.
The week would not have been a success without the hard work of the staff and the positive, determined attitude displayed by all students.
