Wellbeing

If you are a parent of a child at the school or you are a student and would like to have a discussion in relation to mental health and wellbeing at NSB please contact Mrs Greenaway, Assistant Head for Personal Development and Senior Mental Health Lead via email on lgreenaway@nsbtrust.school

At school we have a Mental Health Team including access to counsellors and a variety of supportive approaches and we currently have 16 members of staff who have trained as Mental Health First Aiders as well as whole staff training in relation to mental health. We are able to provide some support in school and can also signpost to external services as appropriate. In addition,  if there is a mental health concern you should also contact your GP.

Meet the Mental Health Team

If you have an urgent concern please use the usual channels of contacting  the Form Tutor, Year Team Leader/Director, The Inclusion Centre or use the report a concern function online.

Students are able to join our weekly lunch time group as Wellbeing Ambassadors and work on certain projects and campaigns, we have a Wellbeing Drop In Cafe for 6th Form Students three times a week and spaces within the Inclusion centre and The Wellbeing Lounge that can be accessed by students when needed. Within PSHE, Personal Development Sessions and Assemblies we provide preventative and supportive education which breaks down stigma and encourages young people to talk and where we highlight strategies for positive mental health as well as conveying the signs of certain mental health conditions and how to develop resilience and cope with exams, transitions and other key issues impacting young people. We support national and local Mental Health Campaigns, have an annual Wellbeing Fair with invited guests and create a Mental Health Newsletter three times a year. We also have guest speakers to supplement this, especially during Personal Development Week and drop down days.
